Delta-11 -tetrahydrocannabinol (often shortened to Delta-11 THC)  a cannabinoid that  much less studied than more familiar cannabinoids such as Delta-9 THC. Information about its natural occurrence, effects, and pharmacology  limited, and many claims made online  not supported by strong scientific evidence.

Researchers currently understand the following:

  • Occurrence: THC may occur naturally in cannabis in very small amounts or may be formed during certain chemical processes, but it  not a common cannabinoid found in high concentrations.
  • Research: There very little published human research on its effects, safety, or potency.
  • Potential effects: Because evidence is limited, it’s not possible to reliably state how its effects compare with other cannabinoids. Reports from consumers are anecdotal and should not be treated as established scientific fact.
  • Safety: Products marketed as containing THC may vary widely in quality and composition. Independent laboratory testing is important where such products are legally available.
